Cambodia Holds “Biking to Angkor Sangkranta” in Siem Reap Province

“Biking to Angkor Sankranta”, a public campaign to promote the Angkor Sankranta 2015, was held this morning in Siem Reap cultural province, home to the famous Angkor temples.
Some 100 youths participated in the event taking place under the theme of “Beautiful Siem Reap, Wonderful Angkor Sankranta.”
“Biking to Angkor Sankranta” began at 07:30 am at the Royal Residence Park and ended at the Terrace of the Elephants of Bayon Temple. There were a 30-minute stopover in front of Angkor Wat Temple and another 30-minute stopover at Tonle Om Gate of Bayon Temple to join local people and tourists for Khmer traditional games and group photos.
The event is aimed to enhance the prestige and beauty of the land of Angkor and to widely inform national and international tourists of the upcoming Angkor Sankranta 2015, as well as to encourage the youths to take part in the environmental protection, said an announcement of the team of Public Relations of the Angkor Sankranta 2015.
The Angkor Sankranta 2015, the biggest annual cultural event in Cambodia, is scheduled to be held on the occasion of the Khmer Traditional New Year from April 14 to 16, 2015. This year’s event is expected to attract some 500,000 visitors, up from some 380,000 a year earlier. 

The Angkor Sangkranta 2015 will be bigger and more interesting than the previous events. A part from many entertainment programs such as Khmer traditional art performances and games, chess competition, etc., there will be the show of the first ever largest Num Ansom Chrouk (a traditional Cambodian rice cake made from sticky rice, mug bean, and pork) of 3.2 tons, a giant palm leaf hat of 191.5 kilograms, a giant Angrot (a fish catching tool) of 5.5 meters height, a giant palm juice container of 15 liters, and so on.
In addition, a 30-second video spot on Angkor Sankranta 2015, the third of its kind, has been aired by the Cable News Network (CNN) since Mar. 9, 2015 until April 16, 2015.
